Table 6.3.1 shows the individual GXP capacity, forecast, and the demand forecast for the AMP period. To address the capacity issue at the Hamilton 33kV GXP the following measures have been undertaken or will be investigated and implemented: Improved load management. Investigations indicate that reductions in the peak demand can be achieved by improving the reinstatement of our load control; One of the two transformers at Hamilton (T5) is smaller than the other and due to be upgraded. Transpower’s life cycle replacement of T5 will add additional firm capacity of 9MVA. The system growth is described in the network which the GXP supplies. This is outlined further in the following sections. 6.3.1 HAMILTON NETWORK DEVELOPMENT PLAN Hamilton network is supplied by Hamilton 33kV and Hamilton 11kV. However, they are separated by a phase shift of 30° or 90° depending on the adjacent Hamilton 33kV zone substations and the Hamilton 11kV. This means that we cannot easily and automatically connect Hamilton 11kV network to the Hamilton 33kV network. This network supplies the council’s structured plan in Rototuna, Ruakura and Peacockes as well as CBD developments. There are a number of residential subdivision developments in the Rototuna, Borman area and in the northern part of the Ruakura structured plan. Table 6.3.1 GXP demand forecast to 2028
